The Governor wants us to spend $22 billion on a water bond that creates not a drop of new water. But, the bill will push your cost for water up by 20%--plus having your tax dollars go to pay off the bond, with interest, at a cost of $700 million a years, for 30 years!.
"Local water bills could increase by 20 percent or more if the state builds a long-discussed canal in Northern California aimed at making Southern California's water supply more reliable.
"These are tough decisions, but I think it's very important for the public to compare what the alternatives are," said Doug Headrick, general manager of the San Bernardino Valley Municipal Water District."
And, if they build the canal, hundreds of thousands of acres of prime farm land will be destroyed..then again, if it is not your land, why care? Because this will also raise the cost of food--so you pay more in taxes, more in food costs and more for limited water. This is as "lose-lose" as you can get.
