How bad is the state of the California government and economy? We are going to have at least four more years of deficit budgets. Currently we have a $14 billion deficit--and that is a lie. it is actually over $22 billion when you add in the lost lawsuits and the assets not sold, but budgeted as if they had been sold.
The phony budgets are the problem. The lack of truth in the budget practice allows revenues that don't exist and illegal cots cuts are added to the final product. But why? So, the legislature can claim the budget is balanced so they can borrow more money. Sick. They know it is wrong, yet they are the problem.
"Absent action and assuming a flat or worsening economy, the state is looking at shortages of perhaps $25 billion or more during the next 2 years, but the number is a moving target because an array of taxes are phased out, and a number of tax breaks phase in.
The General Fund has already dropped nearly $19 billion in two fiscal years from $103 billion in 2007-08, to $85 billion in the current year."
Government has too much money. When prisoners have health care "policies" that cost $17,500 per year, you know we are spending too much. When AB 32 is killing jobs and forcing businesses not to expand or to leave the State, you know it is government causing the California Depression--and now we know the Depression will last at least four more years. The actually unemployment rate is the State is approximately 20%--time for a revolt by the voters.
