  • Steve Frank Editorial: NBC Anchors Are Economic Illiterates

On weekday mornings I like to watch CNBC for the economic news and switch back and forth with Fox News to get up to date on the news of the nation and world. CNBC for economics and stock market, Fox for news.

This morning the CNBC anchors could not understand why the Pelosi/Reid/Obamacare health care program is bad for insurance companies. Erin Burnett announced, "this plan is good for insurance companies. it gives them millions of new policy holders--and allows them to continue their profits."

Burnett does not get it. By 2020--eleven years from now private health care insurance will no longer exist. Due to the rules, change jobs and you HAVE to go to the "government option", have a child and add her to your policy and you HAVE to go to the government option. Insurance companies will be forced to charge a healthy 20 year old the same as a cancer ridden 45 year old that never had insurance before. What profits? Obamacare takes the profit out of health care insurance--leaving all Americans to a government plan, rationing and the health care of a Third World nation. Doctors claim that 45% of them will leave the field if this passes. Let us say only 10% leave--but the plan is supposed to create 35 million MORE patients--with 10% fewer doctors.

"If the doctor shortage is not addressed and health-care reform is signed into law, millions of Americans will likely find themselves able to obtain insurance for the first timebut may be unable to find a doctor without a long delay. Why? Because expanding the number of insured patients but not the number of doctors will only increase the demand for services that already must meet the demands of an aging population."

Can Erin Burnett be this stupid, or is she purposely lying about the affects of government medicine? How bad is government medicine--Medicare is rationed, VA care is according to Congressional hearings just above Third World status in many places.

Does Burnett understand that $400 billion in tax increases will harm health care in the private sector. Does she not understand $404 billion in Medicare CUTS will harm seniors? How does Burnett explain an added trillion dollar deficit will not hurt our economy?

Why doe Burnett not know the facts? Why does NBC allow her to promote false statements? If I were a conspiracy theorist, I would say that General Electric needs to be the "best friend" of Barack Obama. GE, the owners of NBC, CNMC and MSNBC--the home of the funniest shows on TV, this side of Saturday Night Live--Olberman, Maddow and Shultz., needs to curry a relationship with those that give contracts--the White House.

GE needs government contracts. So what is wrong using their TV networks to market the company as "Team Players". Except in this case the "Team" believes in the government ownership and control of the means of production and services.

As consumers of news we need to demand facts, not ideology or political agenda's. That is why Fox News viewer ship is higher than CNN, MSNBC, HLN, and CNBC COMBINED.

Erin, you need an economics and an ethics class. Using the White House talking points is not journalism. That is what they do in Cuba and Venezuela.

The nicest thing I can say is that Erin Burnett, CNBC "anchor" is an economic illiterate. The worst? She is auditioning for a spot in the Communications Department of the SEIU or the White House.

You do not have to be bright to tell the truth, just honest. A quality lacking at the General Electric networks. Pass this along to your friends and associates. Save them from watching the NBC propaganda channels, challenging CNN for the best friend of BO.
