I like Bob Hertzberg as a person--nice smile and gives great hugs. Still he is a liberal that believes you are not smart enough to spend your own money--and that government needs to protect you.
That is why he is working hard to allow tax increases and deficit budgets with majority votes, instead of 2/3 votes. ""The public is very concerned, nervous and scared about the future and with the way government is behaving," Hertzberg said. "We tried to weave together thoughtful and meaningful reform and cobbled together widespread support."
The centerpiece of the California Forward proposals is the elimination of the two-thirds requirement on budgets votes. They're asking for an outright majority 50 percent plus one rather than the idea of a 55 percent majority that has been a part of previous proposals. But the ballot campaign leaves intact the two-thirds requirement for taxes."
That means you can pass a deficit budget with a 50% vote instead of 2/3--then force the tax increases.
If the current system is so bad, imagine how much wore if you lower the requirement to a simple majority.
Actually, Hertzberg has to believe WE are the simple ones--not wanting to give more money to government.
Would you vote for the Hertzberg proposal? Now, if I get a hug from Bob, I will check to see if I still have my wallet.
