Politicians call them "earmarks". You and I call them a bribe for a vote.
In exchange for putting Californians another $22 billion in debt (with no guarantee of a enough water for a soccer team) special interests --politicians begging for money for re-election (tax dollars for bribes to their constituents) got hundreds of million of dollars flowing and the votes to crash the State went forward and passed.
"The Santa Monica Mountains Conservancy is in line to receive $75 million to protect the Los Angeles River watershed, and another $25 million for Santa Monica Bay watershed projects. In Speaker Karen Basss backyard, the Baldwin Hills Conservancy is set to receive $20 million if the bond is approved.
Theres also $125 million earmarked for the California Department of Forestry for forest restoration and to provide for climate change adaptation.
In short, the bonds got a little something for everyone."
This is as blatant as it gets. Now you know why the State is in trouble--you can buy a legislator with an earmark.
