Who is Gerry Parsky? He ran the 1996 Republican National Convention in San Diego.
In 2001 he took over the California Republican Party by spending lots of money to change the bylaws of the CRP--today thanks to his"reforms" the CRP is broke and in debt, trying to find a purpose and leadership. It has taken eight years to return the by-laws to the Members, taking it back from the special interests.
Parsky runs a business, of buying and selling businesses. Now he wants to sell the poor, to become poorer and the middle class is to be sold to other States.
The Governor put Parsky in charge of a Reform Tax Commission. His reforms? To tax your hair cut, your hospital stay, tax your visit to the vet for Fido.
His view? By raising taxes you lower taxes--get that? "It would tax a company's gross revenues minus the cost of goods and services purchased from other firms, and apply to all industries, including many not currently taxed, such as child care centers, law firms, golf courses, landscaping services, amusement parks, accounting firms and hospitals.
However, Parsky said the value-added taxes were proposed as a way to even out the regressive features of the other changes, and that pressures to pass on the cost to consumers would be alleviated by the federal deductions businesses could claim."
This is just another tax and spend sham, not going anywhere, but the Guv can say he tried--like he said he would not sign any bills without a water bill. Now you know why the State has too much money--wonder how much was wasted on this not very veiled effort to raise taxes?
