The unions in Los Angeles are upset that employers of "day laborers" (illegal aliens mostly) are not paying them. Of course people who work should be paid.
"They have found an ally in City Councilman Richard Alarcon, who plans to introduce a motion on Tuesday directing the city attorneys office to write an ordinance that would criminalize nonpayment of wages.
People think that just because they pick up somebody on the street or at a day laborer center that they dont have the responsibility to pay them if they dont like the work, Alarcon said. This would make it illegal for somebody to do that."
But, why aren't the LAPD arresting these violators of our immigration laws in the first place. The real question is, does someone violating the law deserve to get paid?
Here is a compromise: Pay them, then deport them--how does that work for the unions? Maybe more Americans and honest people will get jobs?
