The politicians want you to save them from raising money to run for office. Even "better" they want you to take money from education, health care and public safety. Those that created the worst financial mess, a State created Depression that will last for a generation, want your tax dollars to run for public office.
"The Fair Elections Act, sponsored by state Sen. Loni Hancock, D-Berkeley, asks voters to set up a public fund to pay for the campaigns of willing secretary of state candidates in 2014 and 2018.
In exchange for the public's largesse, participating candidates must agree to strict spending caps and restrictions on outside"
Of course, outside money can be spent, with or without this ballot measure--and the corrupt politicians behind it know that. As long as we still have the First Amendment, private folks can band together to spend money for or against a candidate.
This is how the Politicians fraud works: They agree to only spend the tax dollars for their campaign. Their "friends" create Independent Expenditure committees, raise and spend as much as THEY want, and we still have lots of money for your campaign. All legal. Except it is immoral.
The Politicians really think we are stupid--they are counting on it.
