  • Stop killing trees for textbooks

This is the future of education. Books will be on computers and hand held devices. The cost of producing the books will drop and the savings will help fund better education, not the killing of trees.

How long will it take "professional educators" to get it? This is good for the environment, saves trees and energy, it saves space in schools.

"Also known as a flexbook because of its adaptability, a digital textbook can be downloaded, projected and printed, and can range from simple text to a Web-based curriculum embedded with multimedia and links to Internet content. Some versions must be purchased; others are "open source" -- free and available online to anyone.

Some praise the technology as a way to save schools money, replace outdated books and better engage tech-savvy students. Others say most schools don't have the resources to join the digital drift, or they question the quality of open-source content."

This ends the "I left my books at home" excuse--also ends the need for lockers to keep the books in between classes.

Will educators get smart, or at least some common sense to save money and add to the quality of education? What do you think?
