Even the Neighborhood Councils in Los Angeles are hotbeds of corruption. In this case a convicted felon gets to chair a Council and is now accused of stealing $250,000.
The real question is why the Council has even a dime to spend. The purpose of the Council is to advise the City Council about policy. Not in LA. "To pay for projects in their communities, each of the city's 89 groups has historically been allotted $50,000, which can be spent through city checks or a credit card issued to each treasurer. Although every expenditure is supposed to be approved by the full neighborhood council, investigators have found that some were not."
Why are these folks, unabated and unaudited, getting a dime of tax money. This is corruption waiting to happen.
Another example of why government has too much money.
