Finding a good candidate is hard to do. Finding one that has never been arrested, always pays taxes, has no lawsuits, has no funny pictures, hasn't been on the wrong side of an issue, is willing to work hard to get elected, that is really difficult to find.
Having your best friends or biggest donors, or children demanding you vote one way of the other, is stressful. It is amazing we have people willing to run for office or serve.
This is why we need more citizen politicians and less career folks--we need people who will serve 6-14 years in the legislature--and then leave.
