California only has so much money. By stealing from Trust Funds, making illegal cuts, using reserves,by claiming non existent revenues and transferring funds from one account to another, the next budget will be over $30 billion in deficit.
What will happen to us? "Still, the solution is likely just a one-year fix. The $81 million from First Five California consumed about half of the commission's savings, which took about 10 years to accumulate, said Kris Perry, First Five's executive director. That means the program will be hard-pressed to make similar contributions to Healthy Families in the future, she said.
In July, state officials also cut $7 million from the Department of Forestry and Fire's budget by canceling a contract for a DC-10 airplane that helps fight wildfires. After a financial review in August, however, state officials reinstated the contract using money from a $182 million emergency Wildland Fire Suppression Fund because of the high probability of wildfires this season, said H.D. Palmer, spokesman for the state Finance Department."
