There is something tawdry, if not immoral, about forcing people to pay a bribe in order to work. Tawdry is not a word unions care about. Nor do they worry if someone has their tires slashed--at least the car owner was not killed.
Thanks to Sacramento, jobs are being lost, those paying bribes to keep jobs will be forced to move to Arizona (the good news is that when they move they can stop paying bribes to unions).
And, the unions go to their old standby--violence. "Over the previous week, tensions between employees and management had boiled over. The terminal manager had been threatened and a tire on his vehicle been slashed. Two drivers leading the union campaign had been fired. There was also talk of a walkout - the last thing the company needed as it was trying to build up a customer base."
