On the heels of a $662 tuition increase, the mother of all increases is being proposed and will shorty be approved. The UC system is about to add over $2500 to the yearly tuition--a 32% increase in one move.
This will kill the education opportunity for thousands of students at our finest universities--after this only the very rich and the very poor, including illegal aliens will be able to afford this schools (the poor and illegals will be given loans, grants, scholarships--mostly paid for by the taxes of the middle class)
Since the legislature is in its last day of regular session (by the end of the weekend expect a notice of a special session in the next couple of weeks), and other issues, this story will get lost.
At every level, California is in trouble--now the students, who for years have been picketing for higher pay and benefits for workers, executives taking massive pay increases and bonuses, the system throwing out honest students and replacing them with illegal aliens, now the UC system--except for its football and basketball programs--will also melt down.
