  • High-speed rail panel's PR problem

Those who worked in the Governors Administration now have a $9 million PR contract to promote the High Speed Rail--which they promoted while working for the Governor.

Looks like the backlash has hit, and the contract is on hold. "The commission, which is dominated by Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger's appointees, is weighing whether to award a $9 million contract to a public relations firm led by the governor's former campaign manager and one of his most prominent political advisers. They were set to deliver a vote Thursday, but media attention may have contributed to the sudden decision to stay the vote until Oct. 1."

This is how government works--that is why we need to cut back funds to government, programs and other opportunities tthat look like corruption--true or not.

What do you think, does a choo-choo train need a $9 million PR contract? Remember, the total cost, principle plus interest, is $200 BILLION, and that does not include a cent to actually run the train--which will be controlled by the unions, not the State.
