  • Sacramento TEA Party Gets Local Coverage

About 1,500 people gathered on the west steps of the State Capitol Friday afternoon to express their anger with state environmental regulations, which they said were responsible for increased unemployment in the state.

Check out this commentary from a reader named GADFLY:

OK first off your numbers are WAY off.... Why fudge the numbers... there is no need to. I was there, there was 3-5K. Some articles claim 6K...I don't buy that figure either.

The rest of the article is mostly accurate. What was supposed to be a Tea Party event, for those of all political persuasions who are fed up with our inept government and wasteful spending habits, turned into a far right wing extremist rally controlled by corporate farming interests.

The absolute cherry on top of this steaming pile of a rally was that the farmers trucked in a bunch of illegal immigrants to hold picket signs! Now let me make one thing clear... Tea Party folks don't take to kindly to illegal aliens...but for some reason, no one seemed to care...that made me very suspicious...then I walked through the crowd and realized that 85-90% were farm supporters, and NOT “Tea Party Patriots.” It appears that the Tea Party organizers, worried about a poor showing, invited the farmers to jump in on the rally....what a HUGE mistake. I am a rabid supporter of the idea of the Tea Parties... I lasted about an hour before I left.

This rally was NOTHING like the Tax Day Tea Party on April 15th. It was a different crowd with a totally different message. Today was a divisive and mean spirited attack on anyone who cared about the environment, water or air quality; it was a diatribe against Democrats and those on the Left organized by high ranking GOP strategists trying very hard to masquerade as an independent non-partisan Tea Party. Well…they failed.

This was not the intent of the original early 2009 Tea Party movement, which was a non partisan movement against both political parties that have failed our country. It now appears that the GOP has taken COMPLETE control of the national Tea Party movement through GOP based PAC's, but being careful not to be linked as any "official" GOP organizing effort.

The Tea Party Express, which sponsored today’s event is organized and controlled by "Our Country Deserves Better PAC”. This is a Republican PAC with heavy hitter GOP strategists. Check out who is on their team yourself.

    See: www.ourcountrydeservesbetter.com

Sadly the Tea Party movement will fail, it is disorganized and well meaning supporters are being used and lied to. The irony is that most joined along with this movement because they were sick and tired of being lied to by our politicians, but they have been duped, and now this same organization, is lying and misleading them. It never seems to end…Americans just can’t get an honest answer from anyone.

Despite what the Liberals would have you believe, not all conservatives want to poison the Delta, kill off fish or pollute our air.

      “Tea Party Patriots.”
Just what is a patriot anymore? Is the definition now "someone who agrees 100% with me" coupled with "my way or no way"?

It never seems to end…Americans just can’t get an honest answer from anyone.
Would that be the cause of the disillusionment I perceive in general?

Why is there no real discussion anymore? It seems there are just groups of people who yell insults at each other.

I believe the statement that "America is a nation of moderates ruled by extremists", but what happened to the moderate voice? Is it drowned out by the sheer loudness of the extremes?

      -----------------------------

The hi-jacking of someone else's platform and substituting another agenda, doesn't surprise me. And bringing in people to hold signs is nothing new, there have been paid picketers forever. I'm not sure what the political inclination of Sacramento is, I would imagine that it could be described as somewhat "liberal" and is surrounded, with the possible exclusion of Davis, by an economy with an entirely different point of view. Could the hijackers be described as "out of town carpetbaggers" even though some only had to travel a few miles?

Could a rally for the legalization of gay marriage in San Francisco be hijacked by a coalition which supports abortion but opposes capital punishment along with a fringe group demanding the legalization of marijuana staging a "smoke in" with hard core Democrat speakers dispensing their personal agendas? Entirely changes the message, but the first will be confused with all the rest.

Despite what the Liberals would have you believe, not all conservatives want to poison the Delta, kill off fish or pollute our air.

Nor would all self described liberals want to kill business, fund abortion, legalize drugs, or open the borders.

Friggin' labels and the dogmatism which dispenses them.

Sorry if I hijacked the thread.

Patriots can mean whatever I guess. Patriot to any cause, patriot to my cause, etc.
Maybe these good people will not allow themselves to be misused in totality.

Sac Bee goes propaganda on TEA Party,

          Update on TEA Party Hijack,

Here's why I was concerned. The Sac Bee took the TEA Party and made it an hispanic farmworker focus by printing the above pic on the main body of the article. See for yourself

          And the Article:

"Out on the west lawn, more than 50 farmworkers held signs in both English and Spanish demanding officials send more water to farms.
Like others, they blamed environmental laws protecting Delta smelt and other fish species for the shortages, which they said have forced some farmers to abandon their fields. Farmworker hours have also dropped due to the shortages, they said."

          ----------------------------------

My intention is to point out the wolves in sheeps clothing here; Not to discourage anyone from attending TEA Parties. Just the opposite. I believe we should go and tell those that interject a different agenda or try to direct ours that we find it very objectionable
