Jon Fleischman, the FlashReport, has asked an interesting question. If you are not willing to register as a Republican, then why should you have a say in who the GOP nominee is for Assembly, Senate or Controller?
Would WalMart allow a Sears official to make policy decisions? Does Ford ask GM to decide what models to produce?
Jon points out that over 60,000 Decline to State voters, voted in the Republican primary in 2008. While it is not a large number, compared to the total vote, it is the principle that matters.
Political parties are voluntary associations. If you do not volunteer, why should you get a benefit?
In the end people vote in the November election based on the views of the candidates. In fact, the person they voted for in June may have lost.
At the end of the day, this is an issue about principle. I will support the effort to end votes by non Republicans helping decide GOP nominees.
