  • Elias: Health reform can't ignore illegals

At $13,000 per illegal alien, the cost of health care for more than 12 million people is why our health care system is melting down.

After years of the Bush/Obama policy of open borders, refusal to pick up and deport illegal aliens (go to a car wash for dozens), local governments giving free education, health care, housing vouchers, illegal aliens are a product of a government wanting them here.

Fiscal problems, health care problems, overcrowded schools--all part of the refusal of the Federal government to enforce our laws. In California alone, the cost is north of $11 billion. Think about our deficit, and you will see why we have economic problems. And there is a direct cost to each of us for this failure, "That "hidden tax" amounts to about $1,400 per year in added expense for every current policy holder in California. The clear implication is that pass-through charges for indigents using emergency rooms will disappear if everyone has health insurance."

Handle the illegal alien situation and much of our nations economic problems will be solved.
