Ten weeks ago the Union Tribune fired 192 people. Now they are firing many more people. Yes, they are making lots of changes--none of which will cause people to read the paper. Instead, the technologies will make it easier to run the paper with even fewer employees.
This is just another newspaper that supports government, do or die. If it supported its readers, opposed government growth, opposed illegal aliens and demanded lower taxes, it might survive. Otherwise, this paper will run AP stories and those written by high school and college kids. Journalism is changing, new printing presses is not the answer--meeting the needs of the community is the answer.
