  • LAUSD Pretends to Reform

LAUSD has hundreds of schools. It is still building new schools, while enrollment has dropped from 745,000 students to 630,000 students.

If reform was the message, they would stop building schools for a declining enrollment, along with over 100,000 of the 630,000 being illegal aliens.

Real reform will tell the unions that they do not run or own the district. If they want to collect bribe money, let them--but not use District resources. Even better, they should be treated no better than the Rotary or PTA. The union is a special interest, I thought liberals did not like special interests controlling government decisions?

Anything less than cutting schools free of special interests is not reform, it is a publicity stunt with no meaning.

A friend who lives in the San Fernando Valley with his granddaughter pays $600 a month to send her to a christian school where she's receiving a good education. That same young girl would cost the taxpayers $1,000 a month to attend LAUSD were everyone knows the education is substandard. Why can a good education cost less than a bad one? Ask the teachers union, they are supporting all the waste.

Might be a little more to it than that. some of these private schools are a little less prone to lawsuits and consent decrees and the like that many public schools are beholden to. that may start to change as more people go private.

"The good education (private) costing less than the bad one (public)"

The public schools are remote from who pays the tuition... there is nothing personal about spending money collected from faceless taxpayers whereas the parent who is coughing up bucks will be involved. In the face if necessary. I suppose there is nothing like overspending on social enginering crap the tax payer's money which has no personal cost to one's bureaucratic self - other peoples money. Who (other tax paying people), by the way, have no way to track their money being wasted on worthless feel good green earth crap and the officially sanctioned "educational" Mexicanization of California.

Private and charter schools can reject disruptive, a-hole smart ass gang banging scum at will, allowing for a more positive learning environment. That is the only way they can succeed.
