  • Which is cheaper, contractors or state workers?

What is wrong with this union and its thinking? "SEIU Local 1000, which includes 8,000 information technology (IT) workers among its 95,000 members, claims the state could save at least $100 million by hiring state workers to do computer work now done by contractors. That money, in turn, could be used to lessen the impact on state employees."

If a private contractor goes on strike--you replace them immediately--oh, but private contractors do not go on strike. Yet, the unions just completed a strike vote and can work off the job within the next ten minutes.

It is always cheaper to go private than union. Unions create prevailing wage policies, that is why non union is sometimes more expensive.

Private companies pay taxes. Union workers control the job, pay and benefits.

    Let this light shining in

Stephen Frank, I have some questions to ask you, I hope you will respond.
#1 and you ever belong to a union ?
#2 have you or anybody in your family's been hurt by a union ?
#3 are you out and out anti labor ?
#4 Do you believe that people should make a livable wage ?
#5 Do you feel that all college educated people are entitled to decent wages?
#6 Do you feel that it's right that businesses only pay substandard wages to their employees that make millions of dollars a year, like McDonald's or Wal-Mart ?

I've been a union worker since I was 17 years old, and all I asked for that I make a livable wage in our economy.
I worked in the orchards at the age of 12 till I was 14 right here in Sacramento, I used to make between 28 and $32 a day doing piace work
did this till the government brought in and made minimum wage mandatory
at that point in time minimum wages was a dollar 25 an hour, I worked one day minimum wage the farmer handed me less than $12 for the same amount of work I had done the day before, who was Robbing who Frank (( ????))
I am personally tired of people downgrading the working people of the unions, the unions were made for a reason, and that was due to the greed of the corporate giants ( not paying decent hard-working people of livable wage )
    please reply to my questions
