  • Audit of San Jose says city could save millions by trimming employee health care bene

Why not an audit of all department and agencies of government? Imagine the fraud and waste that can be found. Look at what an article in the LA Times did for the Nursing Board--and that was not a audit, but investigative reporting. People's lives have been saved.

When was the last time LAUSD was audited? The Unemployment Appeals Board has a backlog of over 82,000 cases--NOT because of a lack of personnel or money, but because of a contract negotiated between the Governor and the unions making a maximum of cases to be heard each day for administrative law judges. Stop the complaints and end this fraudulent union contract.

How bad are the union contracts? "The city manager's office agreed with the audit's findings and recommendations. San Jose's costs for employee medical and dental coverage have soared 124 percent this decade. Employee salaries, by comparison, have risen 43 percent since 2000 and the consumer price index a cumulative 24 percent."

Audits and new union agreements and maybe the deficits will end.
