The Governor has figured out how to end the high priced sweetheart contracts with the unions. He did it in a Texas Two Step.
First step was to create almost $100 billion in deficit in five years.
The second step is to cut government spending, including wages. Hence the furlough days.
The great news is that it shows we have way too many employees. Few have noticed the closure of the DMV or the multitude of other agencies for 15% of the month. This might spur them to become more efficient and to use technology instead of unions.
While we did not get reform--we did cut unions contracts.
