At 2:00am Sunday morning I did research on a scientific issue. No library was open, but the Internet is always open. Public libraries are objects of the 19th century--the Internet is larger, cheaper and more complete.
The lack of money should be used as an incentive to modernize the information government gives to the public. Public Libraries, due to money considerations censor information. The Internet does not.
We need to reconsider all aspects of government services. Which are proper government, which are waste and which can be done more effectively, with 21st century technology.
Computers, not buildings, should be the cry.
