The good news is that the $11 billion government schools want to waste in the future is not going to happen.
The bad news is that LAUSD will continue to waste billions on new schools for deeply declining enrollment, massive drop out rates and illegal aliens.
The worse news is that the so called "professional" educators are still unwilling to stop the waste of money in LAUSD. That is money that belongs to their districts, but are still protecting the LAUSD corruption.
"Another education issue that the leaders were debating had to do with suspending a $450 million payment to schools, which was part of the settlement of a lawsuit by the California Teachers Association prompted by a previous suspension of Prop. 98 in 2004, legislative sources said.
There is also a question of whether schools, which will inevitably see billions of dollars in spending cuts this year, would be promised a repayment in future years."
Regardless, we will shortly have a new budget--not balanced, but new.
The Caucuses have been warned, but the mainstream media REFUSES to allow the public to know, that this budget falls apart by September and we will be worse off then.
As best as can be told $11 billion of the $26 billion coverage of the deficit is in gimmicks and downright fraud. That money does not exist. By October 1, 2009, California will have an $11 billion deficit--that is something the Times, Bee and Chronicle KNOW, but appear unwilling to publish.
