Chevron is one of those companies you love one day and hate the next.
Chevron gave $250,000 to support Prop. 1A--to raise your taxes by billions.
Yet, they also provided 1,000 jobs in the Bay Area to make the air cleaner--that is a good thing--so the people they make poor by high taxes could at least breath clean air.
But the Al Gore Luddites oppose ANY oil company doing the right thing. So, using the courts, they put 1,000 people out of work and assured the air will not get cleaner. They must be proud of themselves.
"While Chevron disagrees with the Courts decision, we are complying with Courts order made at the plaintiffs request and have stopped all work on the project, said refinery manager Mike Coyle. More than one thousand people are now out of work. By mid-week, 100 construction workers will remain for the period of time necessary to complete the safe demobilization of the Renewal Project.
Added Coyle, It is painful to be forced to tell people they dont have jobs to support their families during these tough economic times. The Renewal Project would have created up to 2,000 construction jobs and pumped millions of dollars into the local economy. It is unfortunate that activists have worked so hard to misrepresent and stop a project that delivers significant environmental benefits.
Any wonder California is in a depression?
