While LAUSD is building 131 unneeded schools--enrollment has dropped from 745,000 to 630,000--they are doing something good. They are setting in motion the ability of parents and teachers to control the new
schools.
Imagine up to 131 schools not controlled by political radicals. Can you believe that parents and good teachers want unions to continue the destruction of schools and students?
Here is a quicker idea.
1. LAUSD should stop collecting bribe money for the unions (don't pay your "dues" and you are not allowed to work)
2. Allow teachers to be hired if qualified and credentialed--not whether they are members of the Rotary, Boy Scouts or a union.
3. Break up LAUSD into at least 13 separate districts--with a single accounting and administrative agency.
4. Allow the students free choice of schools
5. End the Phony Tony discrimination of summer school for some, as long as they speak the right language (not English)
All of this could be done in a week--not three years--don't the kids deserve the best? Now!!!!
