  • Poizner Forces Brown to Give Back Dirty $$$

One of the first things GOP Insurance Commissioner did when taking office was to order a complete audit of the State Compensation Insurance Fund. Everybody knew it as corrupt. John Garamendi, a Democrat, who held the office, ignored it, apparently as a "cost of doing business" Now, thanks to Poizner, criminals indictments have been handed down.

Recently Commissioner Poizner noticed that Attorney General Jerry Brown, a fellow candidate for Governor, had taken a large sum of money from firms involved in paying off New York pension funds for their business. One of the folks involved is Darius Anderson. We all remember him, he was involved in the "Pay for Play" scandals of the Gray Davis administration.

Calbuzz, the very liberal blog explained, "Brown had taken $48,000 in contributions from relatives of Sacramento lobbyist Darius Anderson and another $4,500 from a company run by LA fundraiser Daniel Weinstein, according to the Sacramento Bee. Later, it became known that New York Attorney General Andrew Cuomo was investigating Andersons Gold Bridge Capital and Weinsteins Wetherly Capital for their roles in helping money management firms secure multimillion-dollar investments from public pension funds in several states."

Then Cabuzz says he is weasling, "But on Wednesday, we learned from Peter Hecht in the Sacramento B- that Brown is giving the money back so that the contributions would not distract from the work of the attorney generals office, according to Rubeena Singh, treasurer of Jerry Brown 2010.

Which sounded to Calbuzz like Brown was weasling."

The Brown reaction to the charges from Steve Poizner, at first? "Since Brown was just doing his job, why in the world should he have to give the money back, we wondered. The AG himself called the demand from Poizner the silliest thing Ive heard of. (Calbuzz)

Yet after he realized he took money from folks the NY Attorney General claimed were bribing people, and that it was known the money was tainted, he gave the money back. The "silliest" thing is that Jerry Brown thought he could get away with it.

The second "silliest" thing was that only Steve Poizner demanded the return of the money.

Were it not for Steve Poizner, the Davis Pay for Play enabler (Anderson) would have tried to do it again.

We have learned three things from from this:

    1. Jerry Brown is a weasel
    2. Democrats are involved in paying off folks to get the business
    3. Steve Poizner is willing to speak out against corruption of the political process
