Keep High Speed Rail Killer in Budget Deal

While the Mercury News is begging Sacramento to keep the $200 billion rail boondoggle in the budget (that is the true capital cost, including interest, not a dime to operate)--a guarantee that for a generation California will be a basket case, it is time for the poison pill be used on this union/special interest payoff be ended.

At what point do we say NO to the special interests and the unions--the construction firms that donated to pass the High Speed Rail bond and the unions that get the jobs to build the money losing choo choo train?

Now you know why newspapers are going to be history--no credibility and no common sense--kill jobs and families, raise taxes, then cry about the budget.

The rail project's passing in the recent election absolutely stunned me. They had little advertisement, little fanfare, yet it got passed at a time when people's attitude towards state costs were already turning sour. I am still wondering about the ballot process in California due largely to things like this.
