If Obama had his way, everybody would ride in an electric car, walk, or use a government transportation system to visit Grandma in Chico, get to work or see a movie.
This is a story about who the Dallas area is gaining dozens of "charging" stations for folks driving the government promoted Volt or the private enterprise Nissan Leaf. This will save the planet by ending the use of oil based energy for cars. Great News.
Now the downside. Oil and gas sales pay taxes, with much of the money going to fix and extend our roads and freeways. When this money dries up, who pay the costs of repair and extension of our needed roads? We do not have enough money now for teachers, cops or government health care. Social Security is dying, States are going bankrupt, and cities are filing for bankruptcy--or should. LA and San Fran are both about $400 million in deficit, with the actual LA deficit about one billion dollars and San Fran about $750 million.
Once the gas tax money dries up, thanks to the subsidies of the charging stations and the tax credits so the rich can afford the government Volt, who pays for the roads? Where does that money come from?
Government is either incompetent, and/or corrupt. This brilliant idea by government empire builders, special interests and the Ninnies who believe you are too stupid to lie without government control are setting us up 15-20 years from now for the next crisis--no money for the crumbling roads--but money for cars that could go as far as 35-50 miles.
In this case government is as incompetent as a fifth grader trying to find a solution for a problem that does not exists, but has an assignment to fix it anyway.
