Jerry and Arnold have demanded we spend $200 billion, the total cost of the 13 leg choo-choo train--without a dime to operate.
Assemblywoman Harkey is representing the people of her district and the State, not the unions or the crony capitalism of corporations that bought the bond measure through "investments" in future contracts.
"Key findings from the report include:
* The California High Speed Rail Authority’s own 2009 cost estimate of $43 billion was flawed. The initial estimate provided to voters in 2008 was $30 billion.
* The 2009 figure did not account for infrastructure improvements that would be needed to make the routes run parallel to existing rail lines.
* Using government documents, CARRD now estimates project cost to be $65 billion."
At least Harkey is willing to stand up to the special interests. It is now the responsibility of the voters to fix this. Why isn’t others demanding an end to this fiscal fiasco?
