The actual cost of all 13 legs of the biggest boondoggle since Al Gore declared Global Warming was his way to become a billionaire, High Speed Rail, will cost $200 billion.
The High Speed Rail, according this group, will cost $65 billion.
"It would take at least $65 billion to build the proposed California high-speed passenger train system, claims a citizen watchdog group, Californians Advocating Responsible Rail Design (CARRD).
The estimate is a bit higher than the one currently proffered by the California High-Speed Rail Authority of $45 billion.
The watchdog group says its price tag is “based solely on official and publicly available Authority documents.”
“The $43 billion figure was inaccurate, even at the time it was made,” says CARRD, referring to the Authority’s 2009 business plan.
They lied, they knew they lied and still lied--how can we trust anything they say?
That being said, no one is talking about the cost of OPERATING this boondoggle? Not a single government transportation system in the country makes money--they all lose money, except possibly for the San Diego Trolley. Amtrak, Metrolink and the other systems lose billions each year. The folks behind the High Rail Speed choo-choo admit they lied about the rider ship numbers by a factor of TWO--they doubled the number of riders they expect--which means the losses will be even more massive than predicted.
High Speed Rail==equals billions in deficits, few riders and great opportunity for crony capitalism, government and unions to take us to the cleaners.
