  • San Fran Now Wants to Ban the Yellow Pages?

The other day, some transient or illegal alien dropped trash in my doorway. Without being asked, something larger than four bricks, and just as heavy, was left for me to put in the garbage. It is something called "The Yellow Pages"--don't know how many trees were killed, how many hundreds of thousands of dollars wasted on publishing this relic of the 1950's. Guess these folks never heard of the Internet, Google or switchboard.com.

I use switchboard.com to get the address of people or businesses in Simi Valley, or anywhere in the United States--and I just inconvenience electrons, saving the Amazon.

San Fran, the home of the banned Happy Meal, the soon to be banned circumcision, could now become the home of the banned Yellow Pages.

"Every year the Yellow Pages show up on your doorstep. For some, it is a resource but for others it is a waste of paper. San Francisco’s Board of Supervisors President David Chiu wants to make that choice for you: Opt Out.

San Francisco says it costs the city more than $60 million per year to deal with unwanted Yellow Pages so if you want the book you’ll have to Opt In by letting the Yellow Pages know you want them to deliver the book to your door."

Relics should be in museums, not on my doorstep.
