The city government of Fresno has decided it is better for the city to go bankrupt than end the corruption of the unions.
"Ms. Swearengin says her commercial solid waste proposal that council rejected would have provided $1.5 million to the city’s general fund this fiscal year. The Central Valley’s largest city is facing a possible $5.8 million shortfall in fiscal year 2011, which ends June 30.
A total of 109 employees would have been affected by the proposal; however, she says, 85 would have been hired by a franchisee and 10 would have been moved to the city’s residential collection operation. Fourteen employees would have been fired with no private sector opportunity."
These are unions jobs--so now we know who owns the city of Fresno--the unions--surprised? This is why cities will go bankrupt and California will stay in a Great Depression--we have the unions to thank for this!
