Should the students and their parents pay for a UC education? Or should a jobless person, about to lose his home pay for it?
Now it looks like there will be a 70% tuition increase. Is it a fee, or tax or discretionary spending?

That statement is totally misleading.
It is not a tax--don't go to UCLA and you do not have to pay the increase.
It is not a fee, don't go to UC Davis and you do not have to pay the increase.
It is discretionary spending--you choose to go to Cal--you are not forced to go to the school.
Want to stop the tuition increase? Don't go to a UC school--prices will drop
Oh, you do know the head of the UC system, Yudoff, gets paid over $800,000 per year--maybe he would be willing to take a pay cut of 50%?
