  • Bay Area Schools Firing Employees

Failed, broke schools in the Bay Area are finally doing what the private sector was forced to do--downsize. Looks like the fired 1300 school employees in December.

"Government in the three counties cut back by 2,200 jobs -- mostly in local public schools. Around 700 jobs in construction were slashed. Some 200 jobs in arts, entertainment, and recreation were lost."

Government at all levels needs to downsize. Do we really need government tourism and information programs? Should government run "cultural" programs or finance non profit programs--Simi Valley has spent millions on a Cultural Center--yet has lots of potholes and families losing homes.

My guess is that this Spring lots of folks who have paid bribes to unions to be allowed to work will find out the bribes killed the jobs--high cost, out of whack pensions, no money to pay for the system.

Thanks to government, we might see California hit the 13% unemployment mark by the end of Spring.
