1. Are government jobs becoming dead end jobs?, Posted by Michael Schuman, Time blog, 1/5/11,
Would you really hire a mid level former government employee? Do you want a former union owned government employee on your payroll?
"There used to be no safer career path that landing a government post. Sure, you might be able to pull in a bigger salary in the private sector, but it was hard to beat the benefits, or the job security. Public sector labor unions are often politically influential and fiercely protective of the perquisites of the civil servant. In times of economic stress, when employees in private firms faced pink slips, government paychecks often kept coming, taken from the tax revenues raised from those under greater risk of unemployment.
However, those halcyon days for the government worker may be coming to an end. Around the world, public sector employees are beginning to feel the bite from austerity measures aimed at reducing government debt and deficits, putting their pay, benefits and jobs at risk. The trend could have major consequences not just for the welfare of millions of civil servants, but the performance of the economies of the West."
Finally, reality is hitting government employment. The private sector cut wages and employment, time for the union owned corrupt employees to go as well. (Corrupt--if you pay a bribe to hold a job, that is a bribe to an extortionist--in the real world it is a crime)
2. Television Losing Ground to the Internet as a Main Source of News, Politics Daily, 1/5/11
Katie Couric is having reporters harass folks eating salads. Ed Schultz on MSNBC refuses to allow Republicans or conservative Democrats on his one sided TV show. CNN is merely a place to hear the press releases from the White House.
Want a variety of information, go to the Internet, it does not pretend to be "just the news".
"Television remains the main source of national and international news for most Americans, but it is steadily losing its lead over the Internet, according to a Pew Research Center poll conducted Dec. 1-5. The trend toward the Internet is particularly marked among 18-to-29 year-olds who now favor it over television to learn what's going on in the country and the world.
Sixty-six percent of those surveyed said they get their dose of news from television compared to 41 percent who said they count on the Internet. While the number of those using the Internet for most of their news has not changed dramatically in the last two years, there has been a big shift since 2007, when 74 percent went to TV for their news and 24 percent turned mainly to the Internet."
3. Pressure builds on Spain's banks, Posted by Colin Barr, Fortune magazine, 1/5/11
Greece has already had its financial collapse. Ireland has been there as well. California is past collapse. Now Spain is about to collapse economically. Italy and France will soon join them. England could collapse as well. All havwe started massive firing of government employees--except for California. But when the banks go, make sure your money is countries away.
"The cost of insuring Spanish government debt climbed above 3% this month for the first time. Credit default swaps referencing 5-year Spanish government bonds traded at 340 basis points Wednesday, according to CMA data, meaning it costs $340,000 annually to protect $10 million of Spanish debt against default.
Will it rain on Spain's banks?
That spread has tripled over the past two years, as governments have started taking on the risks that were initially shouldered by overstretched banks."
4. CBS Plays Food Police, Touts ObamaCare Counting Calories, By Kyle Drennen, Newbusters, 1/5/11
CBS has stopped reporting the news. It has decided to harass Americans into the Michelle Obama diet.
"On Tuesday's CBS Evening News, correspondent Michelle Miller lectured Americans on their diet: "According to Consumer Reports Health, many Americans are simply deluding themselves, most say they eat well but don't....85% of Americans rarely, if ever, count calories. Another 79% never set foot on a scale."
At one point, Miller stopped by a New York City restaurant and warned: "...people have good intentions...but often sabotage themselves." She then harassed one patron eating a salad: "Take a look at this green salad with all that caesar dressing. Don't you think the dressing sort of ruins it for you?" The unidentified man replied: "Well, otherwise I'm not going to be able to eat it."
Any wonder CBS and the lamestream media have so few viewers? Any wonder they have such little trust by the public. This is outrageous--why isn't this reporter fired? Why isn't Couric fired for putting this propaganda, totalitarian style, on the air. Where is the FCC?
5. Obama's Oil War, Investors.com, 1/5/11
One of the ways President Obama has used to destroy the US economy is to raise the cost of energy, and to make it less available.
"Since President Obama took office in January 2009, the price of oil has rocketed 117% to $90.41 a barrel and gasoline has jumped 67% to $3.07 a gallon. In the 34 industrialized nations, oil imports have surged 34% in the last year to $790 billion. The U.S. alone has seen a $72 billion jump."
That is a $72 billion tax Obama put on American families and jobs. Why does he hate us so much? Why does he believe a socialist economy is better than a free economy. When you gas up next time, thank Obama for money spent on gas instead of food or education.
6. Doesn't San Fran Nan deserve a song, a video for her years of destroying American jobs and families? Doesn't she deserve ridicule instead of applause?
Here is a video that does the trick. It is from rightchange.com, a really fun site. See the San Fran Nan video here.
