Half Moon Bay fiscally is what most cities in California are like. It is bankrupt, and has been for months, if not years. Still it is operating as if little has changed. The good news is that little by little, the town is closing down. They out sourced the police and about to out source the rest of the responsibilities of the town.
The great news is that the people of Half Moon Bay no longer trust the city government with tax dollars.
"It appears the city of Half Moon Bay is going to have a rough start at the beginning of the New Year. Without some very tough budget cuts, the city will inevitably become insolvent and leaders will have to do their best to avoid bankruptcy. One major blow to the city’s hopes for additional revenue was the defeat of a sales tax measure on the November ballot."
Even when faced with ending city services, the people said NO to higher taxes--that is how disgusted they are with government.
The pain is not is closing down the corrupt and incompetent city, the pain is trying to keep it open.
