1. Smithsonian Christmas-Season Exhibit Features Ant-Covered Jesus, Naked Brothers Kissing, Genitalia, and Ellen DeGeneres Grabbing Her Breasts, by Penny Starr, CNSNEWS.com, 11/29/10
The Smithsonian gets $700 million of your tax dollars each year to open the doors. Again, the Leftists, who run American "culture" is supportive of radical jihad and opposing Christians.
"The federally funded National Portrait Gallery, one of the museums of the Smithsonian Institution, is currently showing an exhibition that features images of an ant-covered Jesus, male genitals, naked brothers kissing, men in chains, Ellen DeGeneres grabbing her breasts, and a painting the Smithsonian itself describes in the show's catalog as "homoerotic."
The exhibit, “Hide/Seek: Difference and Desire in American Portraiture,” opened on Oct. 30 and will run throughout the Christmas Season, closing on Feb. 13."
This is the Obama message for Christmas--makes you proud?
2. Energy Secretary Doesn’t See Future for Ethanol, After Billions in Subsidies, By Susan Jones, CNSNEWS.com, 11/30/10
Al Gore destroyed our economic system. Thanks to him 30% of corn goes to the production of Ethanol. This is a worthless product--but HE was invested in its success. The cost of food has gone up, thanks to Gore. Now he admits it was all a hoax. This is why he refused to debate--he knew he was lying. When will we stop the ethanol subsidies and save billions every year?
"Ethanol is not an ideal transportation fuel," Energy Secretary Stephen Chu told a gathering at the National Press Club in Washington on Monday.
Chu said the Energy Department "is much more focused on developing new, commercially-viable transportation technologies -– biomass and sugar, for example -– to make gasoline, diesel and jet fuel. Those won't require changing the transportation infrastructure, including pipelines."
Ethanol, a gasoline additive, has received billions of dollars in federal subsidies, as Politico reported on Tuesday."
3. TX State students back concealed carry, Leads state in endorsing change to law, Jackie Vega, KXAN, 11/30/10
The students at Texas State University in San Marcos, Texas are now free to defend themselves from criminals on campsus. Now, a criminal needs to worry if the next person they try to steal from, or classroom they try to take hostage has a student with a gun and knows how to use it. On this campus, students do not have to be victims due to State policy.
After students and faculty shared their views on the issue during a forum the week before, the Associated Student Government at the university voted Monday to endorse legalizing carrying licensed concealed handguns on Texas college campuses.
“This is something you never would have seen two years ago, when most people still believed that legalizing campus carry would somehow enable drunk kids to carry guns at keg parties," said W. Scott Lewis, Texas legislative director for Students for Concealed Carry on Campus . "The students at Texas State should be commended for educating themselves on a complex issue that has been completely misrepresented by gun control activists and certain elements of the mainstream media.”
4. Can a fat man be elected president?, CNN's Jack Cafferty, 11/30/10
Bigotry comes in all forms. Barack Obama is thin, and a totalitarian. New jersey Governor Chris Christie is fat an loves the Constitution and economic freedom. Who's cares about the cheeseburgers eaten by Barack or the donuts eaten by Christie--it is the policies that count. Obama is demanding trillions in deficits while Christie is demanding the end of deficits.
The "tolerant" liberals are really totalitarians--they love government and the nanny state. Maybe the lack of food clouds their judgment?
"This idea comes to us courtesy of a Daily Beast column by Lloyd Grove, who talks about the "proliferation of tough, smart, and decidedly chubby Republican contenders." People like New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie and Mississippi Gov. Haley Barbour, along with former House Speaker Newt Gingrich and former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee.
Grove writes that the rise of these politicians could mean the "imperially slim presidential stereotype might be losing political currency."
Experts suggest that in the past, Americans have seen their presidential candidates as "lean, mean fighting machines." They point out there are plenty of studies that show people pick the best-looking candidates when they know nothing else about them.
But, in light of the staggering problems this country faces, maybe it's time to go for a new approach."
5. Hoyer suggests freezing military salaries, but what about his lavish benefits?, By: J.P. Freire, Washington Examiner 11/30/10
Steny Hoyer is your typical Pelosi leftist. He wants others to sacrifice, but not him. Now he wants the military to freeze wages and benefits--but not a word about his salary and benefits.
"Losing the majority was probably not enough to make House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer, D-Md., feel unliked, which would explain why he went so far as to suggest that military pay ought to be frozen too. But Hoyer has a salary of $193,400 (not including benefits) while the average military salary is about $53,000 a year. And in January, The Examiner reported that were he to retire this year, he would receive a defined-pension benefit of around $136,541 annually -- about 70 percent of his current salary, but still more than twice the average military salary. The pension would also increase every year with adjustments for cost-of-living. That's not to mention the perks Hoyer gets to enjoy such as publicly and privately funded travel for himself and his office."
