  • California Travel and Tourism Commission (State Organization) may be sued for price

The State of California set up the California Travel and Tourism Commission. Now we find out it, like the rest of government may be corrupt.

"The California Travel and Tourism Commission, a “nonprofit mutual benefit corporation” created by state legislation to expand and develop California’s tourism industry, can be sued for price fixing, the Ninth District U.S. Court of Appeals has ruled.

Its decision returns to the trial court a lawsuit by Michael Shames and Gary Gramkow who contend the state-sponsored group has let car rental companies pass on to their customers some of the costs of being members of the commission, a possible violation of the Sherman Act. They also sued over what they say is the commissions violations of the state’s open meetings law.

A U.S. District Court had held the CTTC was shielded from antitrust liability under the “state action immunity” doctrine, and declined to exercise supplemental jurisdiction over the open meetings claim."

In other words, the cost of membership in this government organization is passed on to the consumer. Illegally.

What else would you expect from government? Honesty? This is an agency the State can let go. Allow the travel industry to have total control over it. This is a small example of the corruption of government and the reason government is bloated.
