Construction begins today on a $13 million hotel across from the Mondavi Center on the UC Davis campus.
University and project officials were on site to launch the building project. The Hyatt Place hotel is scheduled to open in early 2010, a news release states.
The hotel will be adjacent to the university's south entrance off Interstate 80, near the Mondavi Center for the Performing Arts, the Modavi Institute for Wine and Food Science and the Buehler Alumni and Visitor Center.
The 51,000-square-foot hotel will have 75 guest rooms.
