Sacramento County sheriff's detectives are investigating the late-night homicide of a 20-year-old man in the Florin area.
Deputies were called at 11:33 p.m. Wednesday to the 6700 block of Sunnyslope Drive on a report of gunshots, sheriff's spokesman Sgt. Tim Curran stated in a news release.
Deputies found a man lying on the ground with at least one gunshot wound to the head, he said. Paramedics pronounced the man dead at the scene.
Investigators have learned the victim was arguing with and was chased by another person shortly before gunshots were heard, Curran said.
The suspect was seen running from the apartment complex and drove away in a blue sedan.
The suspect is described as black, between 35 and 40 years old, between 5-foot-3 and 5-8 with a slim build and wearing dark clothing.
Detectives have not determined a motive for the shooting.
Anyone with information is asked to call the homicide detectives at (916) 874-5115 or Crime Alert at (916) 443-4357. Callers may remain anonymous and could be eligible for a reward of up to $1,000.
