In spite of having an empty state treasury, and in defiance of taxpayers overwhelming vote to limit state spending, governor Schwarzeneggar ordered millions in tax dollars to be sent to drought affected areas to shore up food banks and unemployment funds in communities populated mainly with migrant farmworkers.
Schwarzenegger says the state will send between $3 million and $4 million in emergency food and unemployment assistance to local governments and nonprofits.
