Memorial services set in El Centro for slain border agent Robert Rosas Jr.

A public memorial service in his hometown of El Centro is scheduled Friday for U.S. Border Patrol Agent Robert Rosas, who was shot and killed while on duty near Campos last Thursday.

The service for Rosas, 30, is set for 9 a.m. at Southwest High School, 2001 Ocotillo Drive, El Centro, California 92243.

The alleged gunmen have yet to be publicly identified by U.S. officials, though a half-dozen arrests have been reported in Mexico and the U.S.

Rosas was investigating suspicious activity in an area notorious for alien and drug smuggling when he was shot several times.

The Rosas public memorial will include participation by the agent's family and U.S. Border Patrol officials.

The ceremony will include customary law enforcement services for a fallen fellow officer, including a Border Patrol Honor Guard, folded flag presentation, 21 gun salute, echo taps, bagpipers, riderless horse, missing man fly-over, and dispatch last call.

Burial services will be held immediately follow at Evergreen Cemetery in El Centro, California.

Additionally, a memorial account has been established for Agent Rosas and his family through Cabrillo Credit Union. The account number is 186716-02
