McCain flat against Iraq war re-authorization
RENO, Nev. Republican presidential candidate John McCain is attacking a Senate proposal to require President Bush to get congressional re-authorization for the Iraq war.
The plan is endorsed by McCain rival Hillary Clinton.
Campaigning in Nevada, McCain denounces it as "the worst possible idea that anybody could have." The Arizona senator says it would send the wrong signal to American troops at a time when he says the president's new surge strategy for pacifying Baghdad is showing "some success." McCain says it's a bad idea to tie up the Senate with a proposal that he says won't be successful.
